Charlemagne, to whom the abbey had been transferred, elevated it to one of his most important imperial monasteries. Charles was personally present with his family and court at the consecration of the monastery church in 774. Three monastic buildings of the once large complex remain: a fragment of the <a href=\"\/en\/lorsch-abbey\/building\/basilica-fragment\">Nazarius Basilica<\/a>, a section of the <a href=\"\/en\/lorsch-abbey\/building\/monastery-wall\">monastery wall<\/a> and the famous <a href=\"\/en\/lorsch-abbey\/building\/kings-hall\">King&#8217;s Hall<\/a>.
