Archaeological depot

The finds depot on the upper floor of the Zehntscheune, which is not open to the public and only accessible as part of special guided tours or for specialist audiences, contains all finds made since the beginning of archaeological research at Lorsch, which are arranged according to material groups and, where possible, according to archaeological campaigns, section numbers, feature numbers and individual layers. In addition, there are special collections that are stored separately and require special storage and security conditions: metal finds, for example, which are kept in a deep freezer, or special finds of particular value to the history of the monastery, which are also available for international loan for major exhibitions.
